Square Enix and Fathom Events in collaboration with Sony Pictures, announced their plans to screen the director’s cut version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in U.S. theatres for a limited time on February 21-22, 2024 ahead of the Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth game release on February 29, 2024. This is the first time that the director’s cut version will be screened theatrically. It is twenty-six minutes longer than the original film, and the current director’s cut features “roughly a thousand revised scenes with expanded themes and improved visuals.” On February 21, participating theatres will screen the English dub, and on February 22, the Japanese version with English subtitles will be screened. Tickets can be purchased through Fathom Events or at participating theatre box offices.
It is recommended to arrive early to the showings as the screenings will also include exclusive introductory content on how Final Fantasy VII is connected to Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, gameplay from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and new interviews with directors Tetsuya Nomura and Naoki Hamaguchi and producer Yoshinori Kitase.

As described:
Two years have passed since Midgar fell to ruin, standing as a testament to the sacrifices made in order to bring peace. However, the world will soon face a new menace: a mysterious illness is spreading fast. Old enemies are astir and Cloud Strife, who walked away from the life of a hero to live in solitude, must step forward yet again.
