TOHO animation just dropped the trailer for the first film in Haikyuu’s two-part movie Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump. Set to premiere on February 16, 2024, the film focuses on the fated showdown battle between Karasuno versus Nekoma. Two million lucky moviegoers in Japan will receive a Volume 33.5 book containing a new 16 page manga and Q&A from the creator Haruichi Furudate, character illustrations, and the storyboard for chapter 322.

Haikyuu was originally released in 2011, gaining much love for its adept character development and storyline. The competitive relationships depicted in the series and humor even reel in watchers who are admittedly ambivalent to the sports anime genre but find Haikyuu compelling. The story starts with Shoyo Hinata who becomes obsessed with volleyball after being inspired by seeing Karasuno High’s wing spiker’s talented play despite his short stature that Hinata shares. Unfortunately, by the time Hinata makes it to Karasuno High School, the school was no longer a powerhouse and the volleyball team was in disarray. Haikyuu focuses not only on Karasuno’s journey and struggles as they rise again as a team, but also that of their competitors.

Production IG released the anime adaptation in 2014, running four seasons long and ending in October 2020. The manga ended in July 2020.
