Solo Leveling, based on the Korean manhwa by the same title, will be getting a season 2 titled Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-. Season 1 was recently released earlier this year on January 6 to much acclaim. Produced by A-1 Pictures, Solo Leveling combines fantasy and gaming elements reminiscent of the once massively popular Sword Art Online, to create a new story that focuses on protagonist Sung Jinwoo who grows from a weak hunter to become one of the most powerful monarchs in the world.

The original webnovel was written by Chugong back in 2016, with a webtoon adaptation running from 2018 to 2021. A Korean live action adaptation is also in the works. Acclaimed composer Hiroyuki Sawano (Blue Exorcist, Attack on Titan, Kill la Kill, Seven Deadly Sins, Guilty Crown, Seraph of the End, etc) and K-pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER collaborated for the opening theme of Season 1 “LEveL,” while singer-songwriter Krage provided the ending theme “Request.”
