Shinnosuke Tachibana, Shuya Nishiji, and Takanori Hoshino have been added to the cast for upcoming supernatural mystery series The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei.

Shinnosuke Tachibana will play Reijiro Enokizu, a handsome young man with a signature eyepatch over his left eye and a complicated bond with Chuzenji dating back to their student days. Tachibana comments that “When I knew the audition results that I would get to play Reijiro Enokizu, I was genuinely
thrilled!” and “And… I’m really looking forward to seeing how the humor and fear of the original story will be brought to life in the anime.”

Shuya Nishiji will take on the role of Takumi Sekiguchi, a myxomycete researcher struggling with severe social anxiety. In regards to the role, he says “Every character in the story is full of quirks and quite a handful, but during the recording sessions, hearing the performances of the cast brought these “troublesome” characters to life in a way that made them seem so endearing and lovable. Everyone is truly charming. I’m excited to watch the broadcast!”

Takanori Hoshino will portray Shutaro Kiba, Enokizu’s childhood friend and a police officer stationed at the local precinct. He introduces himself as part of the cast: “I’m Takanori Hoshino, and I’ll be playing the role of Shutaro Kiba! Kiba is a dependable adult, a warm-hearted friend, and a character who I think will resonate with viewers, sharing in their surprises and reactions throughout the story. He appears quite frequently, too! Please look forward to it!”

Previously announced cast members include: Kaori Maeda as Kanna Kusakabe and Katsuyuki Konishi as Akihiko Chuzenji.

Storyline:

The story follows Kanna Kusakabe, a female student who encounters Akihiko Chuzenji, a newly appointed literature teacher at her school. Together, they face a series of supernatural incidents in a school setting, creating a unique blend of youthful drama and supernatural mystery. The anime is a prequel to Natsuhiko Kyogoku’s renowned Hyakki Yako novel series, which has surpassed 10 million copies in circulation, and is based on an original spin-off manga illustrated by Aki Shimizu that explores the high school teacher era of Kyogokudo.
