The Peacock Theater was packed Sunday morning for the JUJUTSU KAISEN SPECIAL EVENT Hosted by TOHO animation at Anime Expo 2025, as fans gathered to celebrate the series and learn more about its upcoming projects. The event featured voice actors Junya Enoki, who plays Yuji Itadori, and Megumi Ogata, the voice of Yuta Okkotsu.
Both actors were surprised by the size of the crowd, with more than 7,000 fans filling the venue. The excitement started immediately with a trailer for JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death, the compilation film scheduled for release in North America. After the trailer played, Enoki joked that it felt lonely not seeing Yuji or Yuta appear in it, while Ogata praised the work of the cast involved in the story.
Fans were then treated to a special prerecorded message from Yūichi Nakamura (Gojo Satoru), Takahiro Sakurai (Suguru Geto), and Aya Endō (Shoko Ieiri). During the video, the three discussed the movie and shared lighthearted jokes about Los Angeles and Anime Expo. Nakamura called the film a great place for newcomers to start the series, while Endō noted that moviegoers would be able to experience the story all at once instead of waiting week by week for new episodes.
The message ended with a fun question directed at Enoki and Ogata: what would Yuji and Yuta do if they attended school with Gojo and Geto during their student days? Ogata imagined Yuta apologizing constantly and struggling to fit in, while Enoki pictured Yuji happily hanging out with everyone and making trips to Harajuku for sushi.
Another highlight of the panel was an early screening of the “Juju Stroll” segment that will accompany the compilation film. Written by Gege Akutami and animated by MAPPA, the short comedic scene featured Gojo, Geto, and Ieiri discussing bathroom breaks during movies. The audience erupted in cheers when a chibi version of Toji appeared. Fans also learned that the film will include fifty new illustrations during the ending credits and an acoustic version of “Where Our Blue Is.”
The panel then shifted to the future of the anime with a look at the upcoming Culling Game arc. Although no trailer was shown, a previously released key visual appeared on screen, and Enoki confirmed that recording has already begun.
“The battle scenes are on a whole different level,” Enoki said.
Ogata added that Yuta and Yuji will eventually face each other, joking, “I’m going to kill you, Yuji,” while explaining that she still doesn’t know all of the reasons behind Yuta’s actions.
Attendees also got to see footage from a recording session featuring Enoki performing scenes with Choso. Storyboards could briefly be seen in the background, giving fans a small glimpse of what is currently in production. Enoki explained that voice actors often record before the animation is complete and have to imagine how the final scenes will look.
Looking ahead to the next story arc, Enoki said Yuji undergoes major changes after the Shibuya Incident. He explained that Yuji finally understands what he is fighting for and why he is willing to risk his life. Ogata also teased Yuta’s return from Kenya and hinted that there is an important reason behind his promise to kill Yuji.
Despite the lack of a full trailer, the cast assured fans that the sequel is well underway and that the final quality will be worth the wait. Enoki even joked that he has already been “stabbed over and over by a katana” during recording sessions with Ogata.
The panel concluded with a giveaway, a commemorative group photo, and one final shout from the cast and audience together: “Black Flash!”
